They say that every individual is capable of making his own choice. but then how many times are this 'own' choices indeed ours?
We get highly influenced by the various things happening around us. How often do we decide up on things without thinking of others? Just as they have a 'ceteris paribus' assumption or 'other things remaining the same' disclaimer in economics, what if we, in our lives had the same?
I can't really opine on how beneficial it would be, but one thing for sure. Life would become very monotonous then.
There is a kind of fun in struggling to keep up with best of all the facets and to get that best combination. There is an interesting moment every time you choose between two awesome options only because choosing one does not just mean letting go the other, but it also means compromising on certain other related things.
What say?

'Own choices' doesn't necessarily mean instinctive selections. They are the conclusions drawn wisely after weighing in all the relevant issues. The maxim suggests that everyone is perfectly capable of doing the aforementioned. However, there's nothing wrong with someone prompting in and ultimately even influencing your choice because that usually helps in widening your perspective of things.
